General Features

GreenAnt Nest uses the NextCloud system. All files are stored in Australia on the GreenAnt Network and there is an encrypted connection between your computer and the server (encryption in transit).
Syncing your files is easy with the Nest, you just set up a sync client and your files will stay the same on your computer as they do on the web. The system automatically stores Versions of your files but we do recommend taking periodic backups.

General Settings

  • sever address:
  • username: enter your full email address
  • password: will generally be the same as your email password

Mac OS X

In Mac OS X it's possible to use either the ownCloud Desktop Client or the NextCloud Desktop Client. Currently, we recommend the ownCloud client as it better supports encryption. [Edit July '17] The Nextcloud client has now been updated and supports improved encyption and notification features, it is now the recommended client.

To install and sync:

  1. Download the Client from the links above
  2. Copy the Sync Application to your Applications directory and start it.
  3. Enter the Address details for Nest OSX-connect1
  4. Enter your username and password (this will usually be the same as your email settings) OSX-connect2
  5. Choose what you want to sync OSX-connect3
  6. You'll now see an icon in the menu bar, you can go to Settings there to adjust custom settings. It's advised that you enable Launch on System Startup. However, be aware that if you're on a metered internet connection, syncing files may use quite a bit of upload/download data.

It is possible to compile the Nextcloud client from source or if you are using Debian or Ubuntu, you can also add these sources:

  1. Add repo to apt
echo "deb [arch=amd64] xenial main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/morph027-nextcloud-client.list
  1. Add key to apt
wget -q -O - | sudo apt-key add -

curl -sL | sudo apt-key add -
  1. Update and install client
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nextcloud-client

Configure the Client

You can download the Nextcloud Windows client from this link. Follow the instructions to install.
